Hello all.....ok, I've been using After Effects for awhile now...and only recently have I had this problem...seems it keeps crashing after only about 4 or 5 minutes into a project...it won't even seem to let me save the work, though it tells me I can....when I try to, it completely freezes up and I have to "control/alt/delete" to shut the program down completely, and of course my work is gone. It was working just fine for me while I was making those giant snowman clips...but lately it's been doing this crashing thing every time I start a project up...I have to work FAST to get it done before it's too late.  *lol*

Could anyone here offer any opinion of what might be causing it?  I've already tried to uninstall/reinstall it about 4 times now...and I'm at a lost as to what is causing it or what to do about it.  I have a couple of projects planned, but I know they'll take more time to complete than the program is currently allowing me to have, and it's frustrating.

Your hard drive may be going bad... you may need to reformat.

If I were you, i would call your local "Geek Squad" and have them diagnose your computer.

Thanks for that information...I'm sure I'll have to do a reformat soon, but until then I've figured out a way to get through the project.....I click "save" after every singe step I take, especially when I'm following along with a tutorial. ..I know that's probably basic information, but I'm just not in the habit of it. I will be from now on, though, because I DID get through the project I mentioned....my first "Star Wars-style hologram projection" clip. I'll post it later on this evening.

I had the same problem with my Sony Vegas when I owned a PC. So I learned that after anything I do, I save it. Whether its in Adobe After Effects, or Garageband. LOL!

Hope you got it fixed!
